Often people ask us to recommend new authors or books they may enjoy. Many times we are caught off guard, not unlike going into a bookstore without a list. It is difficult to remember what we want. The following lists contain books we have recently read, are currently reading, and those books that are waiting to be discovered.
Ani's List
"Copper River" William Kent Krueger
A must read for Kruger fans.
"The Stand - Unabridged" Stephan King
This is probably my 12th reading of this book and it still keeps me reading into the night.
"Man Stealing For Fat Girls" Michele Embree
An amazing new voice. I loved this book so much. It brought me back to my youth and made me glad I am over it.
"To the Bright and Shining Sun" James Lee Burke
A reprint of an early Burke. Raw and wonderful.
"Whipping Star" Frank Herbert
I was told I had to read this before tackling "The Dosadi Experiment". Reading Herbert is always a pleasure
"Where The Heart Is" and "Shoot the Moon" Billy Letts
I randomly picked "Where the Heart Is" off the shelf and loved it so had to read her next book as well.
"The Bookman's Wake" John Dunning
Recomended by a customer. I just loved it. A bookseller that solves crimes, what could be better?
"Incident at Twenty-Mile" Trevainian
Another John pick. A Western that I couldn't put down.
John's List
"Lisey's Story" Stephan King
I don't know why I put this one off for a while. A great story with a classic King telling. The man can write and he never lets you down.
"Madman on a Drum" David Housewright
Wow, I feel like I stepped on a runaway train. No stopping until the end. I couldn't put this book down. Mystery fans will love this one. Another Minnesota mystery writer, another great Minnesota mystery.
"Stalked" Brian Freeman
What could be better than another Jonathon Stride novel? Set in Duluth, Minnesote in the winter this one is chilly! I recommend a blanket for this one, even if you take it to the beach. Great story with great characters and a lot of twists along the way.
"The Starman Series" Sara Douglas
A fresh voice in fantasy. A six book series that I couldn't stop reading until I had devoured them all. A great perspective, contstantly suprising her readers. Things don't always work out the way you expect or want, but they do work out. I'm putting off reading her for a while because you can't get any work done if your nose is stuck in one of her books.
